The Glass House is breathtakingly beautiful, the unique blend of glass and steel make the place look so chic and elegant, the lighting with the beautiful ceiling adds to the magic.

Black Dog & Responsibility

Black Dog Scotch is the most luxurious scotch available in India. Being the finest and the smoothest brand of scotch available in India, it has quite a follower base. It was the inception of Walter Millard, 130 years ago in Scotland and was named so, after his favourite flying fish. It stand for its rich heritage and class. A winner, Black Dog has a long way to go.

The variants of Black Dog Scotch are Black Dog Quintessence, Black Dog Reserve, Black Dog Deluxe, Black Dog Centenary, Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve. Black Dog Quintessence is also known as Black Dog 21 years old. This rich and rare premium blended Scotch whiskey loaded with exceptional characters. It is blended to perfection with a multitude of malt spirits chosen from the various regions of Scotland. It’s tasting notes are as follows:

Color – Intense amber gold with shimmering highlights
Nose – A harmony of delight orchestrated by a multitude of seductive aromas immediately arouse the senses. Soft peaches and ripe citrus fruits coupled with pear, marzipan and bergamot begin this flirtatious fanfare. The aged malt whiskies from the Speyside valley make their own inimitable contribution by adding that distinctive charm and finesse. Velvet and smooth. The hand of time in the finest sherry wood has weaved its magic spell to perfection.
Taste – Bold and magnificent. This outstanding blend must be given the reverence and respect it richly deserves. For twenty one year’s these aged single malts and grain whiskies have remained dormant in our cold dark warehouses before they were finally blended together by our master Blender. Therefore the spirit must be held long on the palate for at least twenty one seconds to awaken its many hidden attributes. Like a rare masterpiece it will reveal its inner beauty. It’s inner world. Intense flavors of Seville oranges, ripe sweet mangoes and ginger spice reward the palate, and then whispers of bitter chocolate, liquorices and crushed almonds drift lovingly on.

Moderation is the key to having the best of times. A potential deviation from sobriety might result in a catastrophe and all that you’ll be left with is regret. It’s a good day today and doing something that might risk tomorrow would be foolish. Unwind, Relax and let your senses experience the good nature spirit that Black Dog Scotch is, but do it, dutifully. The finest offerings need to be enjoyed in just the right proportions.

The Impromptu Plan

I tend to get my friends small tokens of souvenirs from every trip that I go to. Be it a small wrist band from Goa, or maybe a signature silk saree from Mysore, getting gifts for friends after a travel trip sure makes them happy and reminds them how much you mean to them. Recently, my friend was out for a trip abroad and on his return we all gathered up at the airport to receive him. We had our meet and greets and were on the way back to home when he told us to take a detour to the place we go to unwind and relax. It’s a small place near the highway where we, friends, head to after a long drive and loosen up.

At this point, we were a little unsure as to what the plan was but we went ahead with it. Now, to imagine why he would ask us to reach our ‘point’, let me paint a picture of the same using words. Imagine grass fields, a calm pond nearby and sounds of the birds to keep you company. This is certainly a peaceful place to catch up with friends and dwell in conversations.

On reaching the point, he took out from his bag, a bottle of Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve Scotch whisky. Bold and magnificent, this outstanding blend must be given the reverence and respect it richly deserves. We were truly amazed at the smooth and silky tones created as an after effect. Like a rare masterpiece it revealed its inner beauty, its inner world. It was special day, we celebrated his return and it was beautiful the way we all gathered up in an impromptu plan to our ‘point’!

Travel To Calm Your Mind

Traveling has the potential to teach you things way beyond what classrooms can teach you – Experiences. Not saying, I would let go off my classes to a never ending journey in search for something new, but if given a choice would it really be so bad an idea? I often read tales of people who have given away everything to travel and find in themselves, “inner peace”. How much courage one must fathom inside them to look beyond the ordinary and explore the world, one day, one place at a time.

I like travelling a lot and have been to quite a few places. My all-time favourite holiday destination is Gokarna, a village situated in the western coast of Karnataka. Devoid of extreme chaos of the city, the beaches are the perfect location to unwind and relax. I recall being there thrice in one year, because that place has a way to bringing back every soul who has experienced calm.

With every single trip, I’ve been able to calm myself and look within to find the answers that I’ve been looking for. I’ve done quite a lot of writing during my time of travel and feel that a beautiful bottle of Black Dog Scotch Whisky helps the process. An inspiration of design, luxury and class in itself, the Black Dog variations are quite a source of inspiration in themselves. With my luggage, I always carry a bottle of India’s finest and a glass that is easy to carry. The Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve was my companion on my last visit to Gokarna.

I belief traveling with a good companion is as important as the destination itself. I have found the perfect companion – Black Dog.

My Scotch with a Twist

Here is the second part from my take on variations to try with your favourite Scotch. On The Rocks! was my first post of the same. The part when we talk about the twist. Yes! I love having my Scotch whiskey on the rocks but I don’t mind experimenting I have a good recipe to jazz up and enjoy the rich Black Dog Scotch Whiskey.

I am not talking water or ice here, I am talking about cocktails. The most beautiful cocktails made with the brilliant Scotch Whisky, Black Dog. I’ll share few of my favourites.

Scotch Manhattan Cocktail

Scotch Manhattan Cocktail

A simple Manhattan cocktail made with scotch whiskey and is my first love when it comes to cocktails. If you are into scotch and you haven’t tried this yet, then you have been missing something great.

What you need-

  • 60 ml (2 oz) Black Dog Scotch Whiskey
  • 15 ml (1/2 oz) Sweet Vermouth
  • 1 dash (4 drops) Angostura bitters
  • 1 Orange Peel
  • 1 Olive
  • Ice
  1. Pour scotch whiskey, sweet vermouth and Angostura bitters in ice-filled cocktail shaker and shake well.
  2. Strain and pour mixed drink into chilled martini glass.
  3. Twist orange peel over martini to release its essence. Garnish with olive and serve

Rob Cocktail

Rob Roy Cocktail

This one is not a classic. This recipe uses the sweet ingredients and garnish but the prepared drink is not overly sweet.

What you need-

  • 2 oz (60 ml) Black Dog Scotch Whiskey
  • 1 oz (30 ml) Sweet Vermouth
  • 1 dash (4 drops) Angostura Bitters
  • 1 Maraschino Cherry
  • Ice Cubes
  1. Stir scotch and sweet vermouth with ice and a dash of angostura bitters.
  2. Strain and pour into chilled serving glass.
  3. Drop a maraschino cherry in the drink as a garnish.

Try out these and share the ones you like. Happy drinking! 🙂

Know Your Drink

Knowing the way your drink is made is as important as knowing where the drink comes, in my honest opinion. I am a bit of a researcher when it comes to finding out the origins of my drink and food and the way it is made. I revisited the way a premium scotch is created. The word ‘creation’ is an understatement; it’s nurturing.

The nurturing of the Black Dog Scotch Whisky is done under extreme care to make the velvety smooth taste that people know it for.

Would you know the ingredients of a 21 year aged Black Dog that makes it the finest? Its intense amber gold colour is a precursor. One whiff and you feel yourself transported in time. Soft peaches and ripe citrus fruits coupled with pear, marzipan and bergamot begin this flirtatious fanfare. The aged malt whiskies from the Speyside valley make their own inimitable contribution by adding that distinctive charm and finesse.

In order to really revel the taste of this premium scotch, The Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve, you would have to hold it on your tongue for at least 21 seconds. It then brings out the intense flavours of Seville oranges, ripe sweet mangoes and ginger spice. Lastly, you get whispers of bitter chocolate, liquorices and crushed almonds drift lovingly on.
