Starbucks Summer Adventure

Summers! I used to like summers but as the years are passing by its not so much of my favorite anymore. Though I still can’t deny the few perks that it brings along and mangoes tops my list. Precise reason why I was excited to be a part of the Starbucks  summer adventure and took the #sipface challenge.

Alphonso Mango Frappuccino

A rich blend of Alphonso mango and milk with ice and dollops of whipped cream. You can personalize this beverage by adding Java Chip to bring out the best. Special blend to suit the Indian taste pallet, this is perfect for the summer season, not too sweet, not overdosed on the flavor, just perfect craftsmanship.

Baked Mango Yogurt

Ah! I can’t talk enough about it. What beautiful flavors. A rich blend of Mango puree, yogurt and cream. Truth is, by the look of it I anticipated it to be too sweet for my taste but I was wrong, and how. This is nothing less than heavenly. So fresh and delicious I scrapped the bottom of the cup for more.

Amrut Whiskey Tasting at TGH

Truth be told I have always been in love with whiskey and an evening in a mesmerizing ambiance, in good company, lip smacking food and one of the best whiskey to savor is an evening well spent. The Glass House is breathtakingly beautiful, the unique blend of glass and steel make the place look so chic and elegant, the lighting with the beautiful ceiling adds to the magic.

The whiskey tasting event hosted by the pioneers of Amrut Distillery at The Glass House, Bangalore was an event I am glad I could be a part of. I discovered the most beautiful Indian whiskey I had ever laid my hand on. Amrut Single Malt.

The day unfolded with Mr Ashok Chokalingam , introducing us to a blind tasting of whiskey’s from around the world. Mr. Ashok is a renowned whiskey expert voted whiskey Ambassador for the year 2012, by the Icons of whiskey. Ashok guided us trough the samples of whiskeys explaining how to appreciate your whiskey and walked us trough different ways to understand it right.Discovering the smokiness of oak barrel, the sweetness of caramel, the punch of citrus or the spiciness of anise just by nosing the drink and then by letting our taste buds dance with the glittering golden whiskey.

The AskMe App

The other day, I was convinced that I needed a vintage OTG to do some baking because it has a certain flavour. Maybe, it is just me, but I do occasional baking in the modern microwaves and it’s not the same. In my hunt for a cheap, reliable and a second-hand OTG, I went bonkers on my smart phone. To my surprise, it seemed way too much work scrolling from pages and pages of listings of dealers selling their goods and classifieds, making calls to confirm if it was still available, asking for directions; phew! For the last couple of hours that my hunt was on, it sure felt like a lot more.

Around the same time, I overheard an ad on the TV starring Ranbir Kapoor about this app called ‘AskMe’. Ranbir, oh, how we were meant to be together! (That’s a different blog post all together – major girl crush). I naturally, gave it a go and was surprised to see how efficient it is. Clear listings of classified ads and merchants, with a quick, in-app call feature along with purchasing options, this is something!

AskMe is definitely the ‘Baap of All Apps’ with a sleek UI and an amazing search engine. With a comprehensive database of millions of businesses running in your city, it is certainly a one-replace-all app. All your local information needs on your phone screen, from selecting a café to catchup with friends, to booking an appointment at your nearest spa, finding deals in your city or checking for an OTG for your baking experiments, find it all, on this incredible app. Features that range as following, it is a certain must-try for everyone who has ever had to use their smartphone to figure out a place to dine, or check out a review about a business or just find out the best shopping deals in the city.

  • Search for businesses near you
  • Get great deals offered by your favorite local businesses
  • Latest classifieds on mobile, jobs, cars, real estate and more
  • Add reviews, photos, and tips for your favorite businesses
  • Make your own listings of your favorite local businesses
  • Read reviews to know about good businesses (and not so good) in your city
  • Share favorite businesses with friends via SMS, email, Facebook and Twitter
  • Look up addresses and phone numbers for thousands of businesses, and call them instantly from ASKME app
  • Additional Business information, such as ratings, payment methods and opening hours, to help make your choice easier

Capture You can download this app from Google play for your android device and it is compatible with any version of Android after version 2.2. Give it a go and am sure you will not be disappointed. And yes, I did get my OTG at a very good price from a gentleman who put up the ad on AskMe. The vintage-OTG-cake turned out pretty nice for a small get-together at home.

Cheers!
