Wedding Bells

How do you define a typical Indian Wedding?

Mind-Boggling trays of Sweets, Array of Music, People you might not have met in your lifetime as your Relatives and so on and so forth.  In the middle of it all, are the bride and the bride-groom, jostling in between the over-enthusiastic ladies and the over-responsible and caring uncles. I have seen all this up-close and personal in a number of marriage ceremonies of near and dear ones. Recently, at my best friend’s wedding, we had quite the streak of working non-stop for 4 days and nights! Yes, a couple of hours of sleep here and there were somehow managed but that was about it! It might even get a little flustering at times because of the number of people trying to pinpoint their variants of the rasam – the traditions of Hindu Wedding.

But probably the best part of the whole marriage is the Baraat! Now, when an India wedding happens, the couple is treated as a prince and a princess and so everything is orchestrated around this philosophy. Baraat is actually a procession signifying that the groom is going for his marriage. Friends and family gather around and dance on this auspicious occasion. And it is a magical spectacle considering there’s this jolt of happiness and enthusiasm that creeps up to you without knowing why! You forget about the back-pain from running around and getting things done, the incurable headache from sleep deprivation and what not! It’s just about pure joy at that very moment.

And one that will be a special memory for years to come. With everyone around getting married, I’m sure the next excruciating and extremely fun gathering is just round the corner. 🙂

Soft peaches and ripe citrus fruits coupled with pear, marzipan and bergamot begin this flirtatious fanfare. The aged malt whiskies from the Speyside valley make their own inimitable contribution by adding that distinctive charm and finesse. Velvet and smooth. The hand of time in the finest sherry wood has weaved its magic spell to perfection.
Taste – Bold and magnificent. This outstanding blend must be given the reverence and respect it richly deserves. Therefore the spirit must be held long on the palate for at least twenty one seconds to awaken its many hidden attributes. Like a rare masterpiece it will reveal its inner beauty. It’s inner world. Intense flavors of Seville oranges, ripe sweet mangoes and ginger spice reward the palate, and then whispers of bitter chocolate, liquorices and crushed almonds drift lovingly on.

Origin – Fish Angling

Ever wondered how Black Dog got it’s name? Those enthusiasts of Classic Rock would recognize ‘Black Dog’ as the famous song performed by Led Zepplin. But the Black Dog being talked here is the name of a flying fish.

Observe the fishing fly on the logo,
BlackDog-logo

Black Dog was christened by Walter Millard whose favorite sport was fishing angling. He used to unwind and relax while angling in the Spey and Tay rivers of Scotland since the early 19th century. He named the whisky Black Dog in honour of his favorite salmon fishing fly.

Angling is a method of fishing by means of am angled-fish hook. The hook is attached to a fishing line and the line is attached to a fishing rod. Fishing rods are then fitted with a fishing reel that helps in controlling the line. The hooks are often dressed with lures or bait.

Fly fishing is an angling method in which an artificial “fly” is used to catch fish. The fly is cast using a fly rod, reel, and specialized weighted line. Casting a nearly weightless fly or “lure” requires casting techniques significantly different from other forms of casting. Fly fishermen use hand tied flies that resemble natural invertebrates or other food organisms, or “lures” to provoke the fish to strike.

Angling is one of the world’s finest sport. Sports of the rich and famous, with the likes of Golf, Horse Racing, Polo, Angling is quite a famous sport known for its calm nature helping the participants to unwind and relax. Would you not love to relax with a glass of Black Dog Scotch in hand after the sportive nature of the day?

Music That Unwinds & Relaxes

My philosophy of music is same as my philosophy for traveling – Exploration. I’ve felt that the search for a better tune and the search for the perfect sunrise is a never ending process and that you can always look for something better.

I like my music the way I like my Scotch – Timeless. I’m a fan of Jazz and enjoy listening to the king of Jazz, BB King, the princess of modern jazz, Norah Jones and the timeless maestro, Kenny G. In their music I find solace and an opportunity to look within myself and find my troubles gone away. But listening to jazz and understanding music not an easy task. I like my music with another hint of perfection, my Scotch. Black Dog is a perfect companion for enjoying these kings and queens of music, it just sets you right in the mood to appreciate with every sip of the perfect Scotch, the perfect tone to sooth your auditory senses while your olfactory senses are having the best time themselves.

Norah Jones

In times, when I’m feeling a little down, I set up my barbecue, grill some chicken legs, set the playlist for Jazz and put my Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve in a glass. The after effect of such an arrangement is mystical and surprising to the fact that it works every time in the manner that I find courage and vision to take control of the situation and work things out.

Poster-1

Black Dog has been a trusted companion in times, when all I need and want to do is unwind and relax.
